Notes from Copenhagen

Notes from Copenhagen

By Donna Wilson

I've just come back from Copenhagen, Denmark and 3daysofdesign. I went to have a bit of a break and hoped to find some fresh inspiration. What I found is that my inspiration comes from the things that aren't the main event - just little unexpected details that show up somewhere. A couple of colours together, textures juxtaposed, or a wall colour when the furniture was supposed to be the main focus. So I hope these details inspire you too!

What caught my eye...

I have never been a purple fan, but I am in pursuit of the perfect lilac and seeing this against the stunning backdrop of the industrial Copenhagen landscape was perfect.

Belgian ceramic designer Home Studyo always makes me feel like I’m living in a cartoon. Imagine this in a still life!

Lemon and caramel looking so delicious!

Everyone knows by now about my love of green. I spotted this artwork in the interior of Dusty Deco.

A painting spotted in a vintage store - artist unknown (to me).

And look at the colourful backdrop at Copenhagen Airport. These were mirrored sheets coated in strips of colour, creating an almost rubbery surface. I couldn’t walk past without snapping a few photos.

The Vitra showroom was awash with apricot this year, but I loved this corner. The plum paired with those bright greens really ticked all my boxes!!

An installation in every shade of lemon! Shrouded in a lemon-yellow curtain and filled with beautiful objects by Muuto.
