Abstract Assembly

Abstract Assembly is the name of award-winning designer Donna Wilson’s newest body of work and marks an important change in her direction. A move away from her characterful product range, this collection of one-off and small-batch production chairs, mirrors and sculptures is her first foray into an area where sculpture meets function.
During the process of making these pieces, Donna adopted a new approach of slowing down as well as an appreciation of working within the new medium of wood, learning new carpentry skills, and combining traditional joinery techniques with modern technology. The resulting compositions of unconventional colour combinations and organic forms are inherent to the way the sculptures are made, and is what makes them recognisable. Every edition is assembled by hand and painted in a bespoke colour palette to create a unique object for each customer.

Even though the project is still in its infancy, Donna has already shipped several pieces to private collectors, art lovers and architects around the world.
